An inveterate tinker and inventor, David Dear dreams up products with a sense of humor - never sacrificing sensible design, of course. He has translated his knack for whimsy into award-winning products such as a clock made from the familiar Will Return sign, a Fly Clock made from a real fly swatter replete with fake housefly and the sublimely silly Duck Mirror. With their clever simplicity, his products have been featured in Vogue, New York and Time, among other publications.
Born in Connecticut in 1963, Dear grew up in the `burbs of the big city, and studying Industrial Design at Rhode Island School of Design. He now lives and works in New York City. |
